Unity College Online offers affordable, accredited master's degrees and non-degree credits, ideal for working professionals seeking to advance their careers, helping students become the change maker the world needs while still honoring their commitments, wherever they are.Job Description:This position will oversee admissions, retention, registration, and advising for students in the Distance Education Sustainable Business Unit. The Advisor in coordination with Distance Education Concierges, may help make admissions decisions. The primary responsibility is to provide academic advising and meet retention goals. This position functions as the primary contact for a set of students. The Advisor provides student support through academic planning, communication, and outreach to students, as well as providing resources and tools for success. Maintains accurate records. Must also have knowledge of financial aid and billing processes and attend regular trainings. Advisors will also support the Concierge recruitment efforts as needed. Work location will be the Greater Portland Maine area.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree plus:
•Experience in college student advising; ideally experience in advising online undergraduate and graduate programs.
•Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
•Excellent initiative and organizational skills with ability to work both autonomously and in a team.
•Great time management skills.
•Excellent oral and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
•Ability and willingness to work with students from diverse political/socioeconomic backgrounds and a wide range of physical and academic abilities.
•Good skills in word processing, spreadsheets and computerized database systems.
•Personal commitment to the environmental focus and mission of the college.
This is a full-time, calendar-year, exempt position. Due to the nature of this position, work beyond regular hours is necessary in meeting the requirements of the position. The employee shall establish regular office hours, and in consultation with supervisor, adjust the work schedule as appropriate. Must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling responsibilities and meeting the college's needs.To remain viable - this position is expected to consistently retain 80% of their assigned students a year. This minimum range reflects the minimum number to keep the position funded and can differ for the goals set annually by the Distance Education Enrollment Manager.
