The Center for Student Advising and Engagement in the College of Health and Human Development is seeking a highly motivated, professional Academic Adviser. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working effectively with students from all cultural and economic backgrounds.
The position will be responsible for: Assisting in advising program development, evaluation and professional and faculty adviser training Suggesting best practices for advising improvement Providing guidance to members of academic and administrative college and university professional advisers, faculty and staff in order to enhance student retention Providing academic advising services to exploring and currently enrolled undecided undergraduate students seeking information and admission to the college Interpreting university policies, procedures and curriculum to students and faculty Making professional referrals Maintaining confidentiality of student records Assisting in data management and preparation of reports, surveys and other assessment documentation. She or he will assist with university- and college-sponsored recruitment and retention initiatives including, but not limited to: New Student Orientation (NSO), Accepted Student Programs (ASPs), Link UP, Spend a Summer Day (SASD), and Majors Night. The successful candidate will provide assistance to projects and undergraduate student success initiatives and University-level academic advising-related searches and committee work. The Adviser may assist in the supervision, hiring, evaluation and training of professional and support staff. The Academic Adviser serves as a liaison among students, faculty, staff, campus and university constituents.
