It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Leigh Shaffer after a brave battle with cancer. As a prolific scholar, caring mentor, longtime member of the NACADA Journal Editorial Board, and as co-editor from 2009-2016, Leigh significantly influenced the breadth and complexity of scholarship in academic advising. He will be deeply missed. Find a tribute to Leigh Shaffer and his work in NACADA Journal issue 37(2).

Dr. Virginia N. Gordon (December 13, 1927 - November 21, 2017)

Gordon, V

Virginia N. Gordon, NACADA Journal Senior Editor, was a pioneer in the academic advising field. The highest award NACADA bestows, the Virginia N. Gordon Award for Excellence in Academic Advising, is named for this past NACADA president. Virginia authored and edited a variety of books in the field; her contributions shaped advisor practice in the area of career exploration with undecided students. NACADA Journal issue 39(2) (December 2019) will focus on Virginia's numerous contributions to our field and Higher Education.
