2025 Region 6 Steering Committee Candidates

Awards Chair

  • Jill Caya Jill Caya

I am currently the Awards Chair for the steering committee serving a one-year term.  I was on the networking committee for the 2024 region 6 conference and I am currently the hospitality chair for the 2025 region 6 conference.  I have also volunteered as a conference proposal reader.  In my previous job, I was the awards chair for the international TESOL association.  I would hope to increase the number of awards nominations and applications and help recognize the amazing work of advisors in our region.

Mentoring Chair

  • Callie Knitt Callie Knitt

I began my involvement with NACADA in summer 2024 through the RAMP mentorship program, gaining valuable guidance on advising theory while enhancing leadership and mentorship skills. This experience has opened doors for further involvement, including serving as a proposal reader for scholarship applications, which has deepened my understanding of best practices. I will continue as a reader for the 2025 NACADA Region Awards program and am serving on the hospitality committee for the Region 6 Conference in Bloomington, MN.
As a candidate for the Mentoring Chair, I bring a strong background in Human Services Leadership with over six years in academic advising, mentorship, and community engagement. I excel in building supportive, inclusive environments and believe in advising as a collaborative partnership that empowers students to reach their goals. In this role, I hope to foster a vibrant mentoring community within NACADA, developing initiatives that promote professional growth, knowledge sharing, and enhanced advisor connections. My focus is on creating a culture of continuous learning to elevate the advising profession and support student success.

Iowa Liaison

  • Adrienne Maxwell Adrienne Maxwell

As the Iowa liaison, my hope would be to continue strengthening the connection between NACADA and our Iowa institutions. I would accomplish this with consistent and clear communication, strong networking skills, attention to detail, and an enthusiasm for a stronger connection to the NACADA advising community.

Overall, one of the biggest strengths is my understanding of and work with various institutions. In my role, I assist with advising our robust transfer student population which has allowed me to become more familiar with the different institutions in the state of Iowa - especially our community colleges. I have worked in various colleges on our campus and in a centralized role, which helps me understand that the various institutions (and advisors) in Iowa would have different needs. My goal would be to ensure I am championing resources and information that can be beneficial across all institutional and professional needs.

While I have not held a formal leadership role within the region, I regularly attend the IowaAAN drive-in conference and attended the Region 5/6 conference in spring 2024. At this year's IowaAAN I volunteered to be a moderator for the guided discussion and look forward to volunteering more in the future.

Saskatchewan Liaison

  • Angela Schindelka Angela Schindelka

Angela Schindelka (B.Sc., B.Ed.) is an Academic Advisor for the College of Arts and Science at the University of Saskatchewan, bringing a passion for learning-centered services to all she does. A former secondary-level educator, she transitioned to advising in March 2022. She is currently pursuing an M.Ed. in Educational Technology and Design as part of her commitment to enhancing student and staff development.
In her first two years in the role, she developed a Wiki and a Canvas-based onboarding course for her unit and presented at the Advising Association of Saskatchewan’s 2023 conference. She attended the NACADA Annual Conferences in 2022 and 2023, as well as the Region 5/6 Conference in 2024, where she received the Region 6 Excellence in Advising - New Advisor Award.
Angela held executive positions on student societies throughout her studies, which included communicating with members and organizing professional development and fundraising events. With a passion for advising, keen attention to detail, and a drive for excellence, Angela is committed to fostering a supportive and dynamic advising community. She would be honored to serve as the SK Liaison for Region 6, working to enhance communication and engagement in the region.
