Position Description

The Assistant Dean for Integrated Advising and Student Support is a member of the leadership team in Integrated Advising and Career Readiness within the division of Student Success. This role is responsible for supporting student academic success and partners with faculty who serve as pre-major, integrated advisors. The assistant dean provides guidance to assist students in their transition and adjustment to the university and ensures that all students have equal opportunity and access to the academic and extracurricular offerings of the University.

Duties

Integrated Advising:
-Recruit, train, and regularly communicate with faculty pre-major advisors
-Serve as a support and resource for faculty through familiarity with advising theories and the national conversation around advising
-Oversee registration for incoming students in collaboration with the registrar and the dean of the college
-Provide training for the student success and career readiness coaching team on university policies

Academic Success and Student Support:
-Monitor students’ academic progress and manage processes to provide support to ensure student success
-Develop early-alert warning system to capture and and intervene with at-risk students
-Proactively support and communicate with at-risk students and students on academic warning
-Recruit, train, and supervise a team of peer academic coaches and match coaches with students
-Design, implement, and assess programs in support of student learning
-Curate a list of departmental tutors and connect students who need academic support

Our efforts will create a campus-wide culture that empowers students to design a four-year experience in which they thrive, flourish, and achieve their academic, co-curricular, extra-curricular, and career goals. The new department will be located in the Center for Student Success Flourishing in newly renovated space and will offer students holistic support through a single location for academic support, career readiness, employer engagement, experiential learning, integrated advising, internships, mentoring (peer, alumni, and on-campus staff and faculty), and success coaching.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

Education:
-Master’s degree in student affairs, higher education, counseling, or related discipline

Experience:
-Minimum 5 years experience working with undergraduate students, either in a teaching, coaching, counseling, or related capacity
-Proficiency using database management relevant to student success and retention
-Experience working with a diverse population and demonstrating inclusive behavior

-Knowledge of learning theories and strategies effective with students in need of differentiated learning techniques -Ability to work effectively with a diverse team of colleagues and faculty members
-Effective communication and leadership skills
-Ability to process, reference, and explain policies and degree requirements
