Position Description

This is a part-time position that works approximately 17 hours a week. This position assumes responsibility for advising students as part of the One Step Away grant. Advisor will reach out to students eligible for grant and work with them to help them complete their degree. This advisor reports to the Senior Director, Advising and Retention. This position will be a majority-remote position.

Duties

• Advises students regarding educational planning and facilitates students’ progress toward graduation. Work with students to assist in registration, completion, and transfer/career.
• Provides support to students with personal issues, such as short-term counseling, referral, and crisis intervention.
• Provides support to students with financial issues, including assistance with financial aid process.
• Makes multiple contacts with students via a variety of methods to encourage their participation in the One Step Away grant. Tracks all contacts and results.
• Work with Academic Center to create tutoring and other success strategies to support student.
• Works with Records Office in reporting and tracking student success for grant.
• Collaborates with CLEP instructor and students for CLEP test taking strategies.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree. Experience in advising in a community college setting preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to assist students in personal/educational development.
• Attention to detail and record keeping.
• Be available to work some evenings (11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), occasional Saturdays, and variable hours when necessary.
• Proficient at Microsoft office suite and working with technology.
