Job Summary Supports the academic transition of transfer and international students to Kennesaw State University by providing timely course evaluations, academic guidance, and creating personalized education and action plans. Assists transfer students in evaluating academic abilities and setting goals.

Responsibilities
• Meet with transfer students and assist them in the initial phases of course equivalency process, including providing referrals to appropriate campus resources as needed
• Foster relationships/partnerships with domestic transfer feeder institutions including enhancing of bridge programs and travel to/from relevant institutions
• Provide academic advisement to prospective, current, transfer and former students related to transfer evaluation of courses to KSU
• Create personalized education and action plans according to transfer students needs and goals for intended program of interest at KSU
• Review transcripts to ensure eligibility for admission to specific programs, including unofficial evaluations of transfer credits
• Resolve student or faculty issues relating to curriculum, course prerequisites, and eligibility by referring to catalogs and other appropriate resource materials
• Develop resources and materials to better enhance the academic transition of students to Kennesaw State University
• Coordinate the transfer equivalency process, which includes close collaboration with faculty and advisors across the university
• Liaison with Athletics and SASS advising regarding preliminary transfer evaluation for prospective student-athletes • Assist transfer students who have not satisfied legislative requirements upon transfer to KSU to ensure students are aware of requirements
• Maintain knowledge of transfer practices and policies at both state and university level
• Respond to inquiries from faculty and professional advisors concerning course equivalencies, degree applicability and other concerns
• Present to small and large groups at transfer student events such as orientation, open houses, and workshops
• Assist with outreach efforts and initiatives (college fairs, transfer and/or international student workshops, and social networking)
• Execute student data reports, interpret results, deliver analysis, and provide resolution to Registrar Leadership Team
• Support Transfer Evaluation team through high volume periods by managing a caseload of transfer evaluation and equivalence reviews
• Develop and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators within and across all University units
• Participate in commencement ceremonies each semester
• Participation and beginning leadership in professional development opportunities offered through KSU and state, regional, and national organizations (NACADA, TAICEP, AACRAO, NISTS, etc.)
• Perform other related duties as required or directed

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field

Required Experience
Four (4) years of experience in a closely related profession to academic advising
Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated proficiency related to advising as evidenced by peer, supervisor, and/or student evaluations. Ability to write, read, and speak fluently in a second language - higher preference to Spanish, Vietnamese, or French Knowledgeable in Banner, DegreeWorks, Nolij, OnBase, EAB SSC, Target X, and comparable tools Preferred

Educational Qualifications
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education with at least two (2) years of experience

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of academic advising theories and/or student development theories Understanding of FERPA and able to access confidential student information

SKILLS
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem-solving, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management, and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
