Position Description
Applications are invited for the position of Professional Academic Advisor and Enrollment Manager in the College of Science at Virginia Tech. The successful applicant, who will work in a team of Professional Advisors, will serve the College of Science undergraduate programs housed in the Academy of Integrated Science (https://www.ais.science.vt.edu/) and in the Academy of Data Science (https://data.science.vt.edu/). The successful candidate will:
Duties
Assist students in the different undergraduate programs in navigating all aspects of academic life including course selection, placement in laboratories or research activities, professional development, personal counseling, conflict resolution and overall guidance
Serve as the program representative for academic advising and assist in identifying goals and objectives for student success
Perform administrative tasks to support students completing degree requirements, such as processing grade changes, force adds, course substitutions, and applying transfer credits
Be responsible for the implementation of an enrollment management plan and for student retention
Assist with statistical reports, curriculum, student scholarships, student performance, academic records management, program assessment, and others as assigned
Manage Timetable scheduling

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications
Master's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university; Experience advising undergraduate students; Excellent communication, organizational, time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills; Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and set work priorities; Knowledge in word processing, spreadsheets, email, and google apps; Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality by following FERPA, university, and department guidelines; Ability to work effectively with a diverse population, including students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, and prospective students and their families.
Preferred Qualifications
Employment experience in academic unit, including previous work in areas of academic student services, advising, recruiting, and curriculum processes.
