Position Description

Provide information and counsel to undergraduate and graduate students within an assigned area regarding their academic pursuits and progress. Prepare and maintain associated student records. Usually concentrate in graduate programs or specialized academic area. May provide work direction to Academic Advisor Is and administrative support staff. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: students, parents and faculty, staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: students. This position will supervise: NA.

Duties

Academic advisors are students’ primary source of program information and available campus resources. The person in this role will advise Computer Science majors in academic and administrative matters relevant to their major and the Institute. The advisor will counsel students on educational plans, registration, course scheduling, graduation audits, departmental and Institute policies, academic progress, and other items related to their degree program and the BSCS curriculum. The advisor may work with different academic units, faculty, and staff to assist students in various educational matters. Advisors also work with students on long-term planning and aligning their academic, personal and professional goals. Additionally, the person in this role will manage the CoC undergraduate transfer credit process. They will coordinate with the registrar's office and CoC faculty to review domestic and international course credit requests.
