Position Description

The primary purpose of this position is to provide academic advising for students at the Idaho Falls campus. This position works primarily with Freshmen and Sophomore who are undecided or preprogram. The position also provides support for transfer students, non-traditional students, students-at-risk, and prospective students in the Idaho Falls area.


Duties include (but not limited to):
• Course advisement and selection
• Computer registration
• Advisement regarding admissions
• Financial aid appeals, scholarships, campus resources, ISU policies, and major/career exploration
• Assist Academic Advising Center with a variety of advising-related projects
• Co-instruct Peer Advising Seminar class
• Perform additional supervisory/instruction/training duties
• Participate in annual events such as the Majors Fair and New Student Orientation programs
• Some evening and weekend hours

Salary will be $42,500 per year, commensurate with education and experience. Required Qualifications

• Bachelor degree
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations
• Strong organization ability and attention to detail
• Basic computer literacy

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree preferred in counseling, student development, student personnel, or related area • Academic advising experience
• Knowledge of theory and practice of student developmental advising
• Familiarity with programs such as Peer Advising
• Experience in development and implementation of student-based programs
• Experience in publication development and production
