The College of Business is seeking an Academic Advisor. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, fixed term professional faculty position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the Dean. The position supports the primary mission of the University, College of Business (COB), and Academic Services. The individual holding the position serves as an Academic Advisor and assists undergraduate students with a full range of support including orientation, academic program planning, course selection, registration, internship coordination, and career planning. The advisor monitors student progress, and suggests and implements corrective actions when students encounter academic difficulties. The advisor coordinates with other University departments regarding undergraduate academic courses that support degree programs. The advisor also works with the student information system and various data files and sources, and prepares a wide variety of reports using multiple databases and spreadsheets. The advisor keeps abreast of University and College policies and procedures, and rules and regulations to assist students in meeting academic requirements. The advisor also assumes leadership roles that support academic programs and special projects. College of Business academic advisors work with students pursuing degrees in the areas of business and design, and assist students studying on-campus, online, at the PDX center and the Cascades Campus.
75% DIRECT ADVISING To all College of Business students including those pursuing degrees in Design and Business. Monitor progress of students, enforce university and college academic standards, and suggest corrective strategies and actions when necessary. Assist students with academic program planning, course selection, pre-professional application requirements, and registration issues. Provide guidance to undergraduate students regarding experiential opportunities and student success strategies. Meet with first year students on warning and probation and conduct outreach as required. Articulate transfer courses as needed for both major and Baccalaureate Core requirements. Offer referrals when appropriate.
10% RECORDS, DATA MANAGEMENT, GRADUATION AUDITS, AND ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Maintain accurate notes and records of student progress in files and MyDegrees. Notify College scribe from the Registrar’s office of needed modifications to MyDegrees when appropriate. Enter exceptions into MyDegrees for advisees. Evaluate transfer credits for program requirements in conjunction with program directors. Conduct graduation audits quarterly for majors and minors, including proper notification to students and Registrar’s Office. Complete athlete audits for athletes in the design program. Collaborate with faculty regarding course sequencing and studio program application process. May also supervise student employees within the unit.
7% ASSIST WITH STUDY ABROAD PROGRAMS
Collaborate with business exchange student coordinators to promote study abroad opportunities through quarterly info sessions and class presentations, prepare students for their term abroad, participate in applicant selection process. Serve as liaison and main point of contact with partner design schools. Review partner agreements as needed for renewal.
5% SUPPORT ACADEMIC PROGRAMS AND SPECIAL PROJECTS
Assist with advising of on-campus business and design students during peak advising times. Create and/or implement student engagement workshops. Program and project assignments will be made by the Associate Dean of Academic Programs or Head Advisor.
3% ORIENTATION AND APPLICANT REVIEWS
Collaborate with College of Business Recruitment team to assist with recruiting events as needed. Deliver Academic START presentations to newly admitted students. Assist in reviewing major/minor declaration prospects for eligibility several times per term.

Experience with Elucian Banner SIS, Salesforce (or other CRMs), DegreeWorks. Master’s degree from an accredited institution. Background in Merchandising, Design Management, Interior and/or Apparel Design.
