Position Description

The Academic and Career Advising Coordinator creates and maintains all aspects of the Academic and Career Advising Center (ACAD) which includes program development and coordination with faculty, staff and other resources on campus. The purpose of ACAD is to coordinate academic and career advising for students through professional faculty and staff relationships that guide students to their end goal through academic and career/transfer planning

Duties

Coordinates Academic and Career Advising Center to include advising students on academic and career/transfer planning, supervising and training peer advisors and scheduling faculty advisors for service in ACAD through Datatel and AdvisorTrac. Implements goals and objectives of the Retention Committee; ensures program goals are implemented through strategies for recruitment, retention, tracking of advisees. Compiles and analyzes data; prepares accurate and timely reports for Academic and Student Affairs. Tracks at-risk students, international students and General Studies majors and reports concerning trends and status. Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to build relationships and market ACAD services through implementing advising program strategies, and developing and maintaining academic and career advising brochures, syllabi, and informational pieces, and ensuring information is available to all faculty, staff and students on academic and career opportunities as well as planning tools. Serves as a permanent member of the Retention Committee and participates in the assessment of academic and career advising as well as the training of faculty and staff. Maintains articulation agreements, transfer agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOU’s); manages all agreements in a format that is open and accessible to all faculty and staff advisors on campus. Prepares and presents workshops for students, faculty, and staff to include conducting broad advising information meetings for students in appropriate venues throughout campus. Provide testing services for academic and career-related needs to include proctoring and/or presenting testing services related to academic needs and career opportunities. Teaches Academic Support Seminars and Courses as needed. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
