Position Description

Job Summary Plans, develops, coordinates, manages, and executes the recruitment and admissions process for the freshwater sciences and atmospheric science undergraduate programs. This position will require time outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends. This position will also require driving to and from UWM main campus and the School of Freshwater Sciences along with driving a university owned or fleet vehicle.

Duties

Performance of duties:

• Manages prospective student information through Slate forms and events

• Counsels prospective and admitted students on educational planning and career opportunities

• Creates targeted communication plans and promotional materials based on established goals working closely with School of Freshwater Sciences marketing and communications lead

• Engages in outreach and recruitment events, representing the university to prospective students

• Identifies opportunities for recruitment and outreach events • Identifies and works with undergraduate student ambassadors for recruitment and outreach events

• Works closely with Office of Undergraduate Admissions visit programs, tours, and information sessions

• Serves as the liaison to internal and external stakeholder groups to identify and maintain academic program-related partnership focusing on outreach and recruitment

• Evaluates existing academic program strategy and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program enhancement

• Identifies opportunities for program improvement or new program development

• Identifies ways to promote recruitment initiatives using social media, email campaigns, and events

• Attends SFS Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion meetings; identifies and implements recruitment strategies to increase diversity recruitment

Required Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver license (or other such valid operator’s permit recognized by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation) and be able to meet or exceed the minimum requirements for driving on state business as detailed here: https://uwm.edu/risk-management/drivers/

• Bachelor’s degree in a natural science

• 1 year of experience related to higher education recruitment, advising, or programming

• Experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word)

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of undergraduate recruitment experience for a natural science program

• Experience using a contact management system such as Slate

• Experience with social media marketing, trends, and best practices

• Experience planning recruitment or promotional events

• Experience being a self-starter, working autonomously, and managing time appropriately.
