Region 9 Operating Principles update
The NACADA Region Division Representatives initiated the effort in 2019 to review the operating principles that govern the ten NACADA Regions. Over the course of two years (and a global pandemic) these Region leaders, with input from Region Chairs and the Executive Office, updated the template used for the Region operating principles. The updates ensure that the governing documents for each region steering committee provide consistency and streamline processes for each region. The changes were official July 6, 2021.
Here are some highlighted changes.
- All regions will hold steering committee elections simultaneously. Look for a call for nominations in November and elections in January.
- All region steering committee position terms will now begin and end at regional conferences.
- All elected positions will consist of two-year terms. After completing a term, a steering committee member may run for one additional consecutive term. After serving two two-year terms, an individual must wait two years before applying for an open steering committee position, with the exception of regional conference co-chair.
The Region 9 Steering Committee has also made some changes for NACADA members in Region 9 to approve. You will be receiving a ballot to vote to approve the changes.
