Position Description

The Director of High School Program is a key leadership role at Summer Search NYC. This hire will lead a dedicated and collaborative team of thirteen and oversee a program that currently serves over 400 high school students across 30 NYC high schools and community-based organizations. Reporting to the Regional Program Director and working in close partnership with the National Program Team, this hire joins a team that is deeply committed to equity, excellence, and wellbeing

Duties

In order to oversee quality delivery and performance of our High School program in NYC, the Director of High School Program will: *Ensure the implementation of program planning; monitor delivery of program services and supports while ensuring services are consistent, engaging, and relevant to the Summer Search participants with whom we partner. *Ensure the day-to-day operations of high school participant-centered programming is executed: inclusive of program meetings, budget oversight, national team partnership, training and development, student management and staff development. *Directly supervise a team of 3-4 program managers who individually manage up to 5 program associates (direct service staff) focused on mentor quality, event management, student recruitment and retention. *Provide hands-on coaching to help managers develop their supervisor capacity and support their achievement of program objectives. *Ensure all program staff are equipped with the necessary training and are building on skills around student health, social-emotional development, cultural responsiveness and other areas relevant to the needs of our program participants. *Ensure the timely response to student safety needs in coordination with our *Director of Staff and Student Support related to participant physical, social and emotional welfare by integrating the appropriate protocols and interventions connected to Summer Search's crisis management plans. *Ensure a high-quality data culture by establishing clear expectations for accurate and timely data collection in our CRM, Salesforce, by the high school program team, as well as utilizing data to analyze program barriers, program key drivers for program success and forecast program needs that align with overall site objectives. *In partnership with the New York City Site leadership, develop and execute a strategic plan to ensure the retention of at least 140 program participants between each academic year of the high school program. *Ensure strong alignment with our national-wide program goals and objectives with the New York City high school program goals and objective, while also identifying opportunities to improve program operations, performance, and implementation systems for assessing program quality and staff effectiveness. *Collaborate with other New York City program directors to ensure smooth transitions between participants' entry point into our program through their alumni journey. *As needed, support community relations and fundraising efforts by serving as a program representative and liaison to key constituents, including Board of Directors, community and school partners, and donors.

Additional Information

This is an exempt position with a salary range of $98,226-$108,270. The hiring manager works with the Talent Team to place all hires appropriately within the band. We strive to maintain internal equity in compensation, while also considering prior experience. We are committed to staff learning, growth and development. The Director of High School Program position calls for a mission-driven leader who is committed to high-quality and impactful programming. Specifically, this hire will bring: EXPERIENCE: At least 8-10 years of professional experience, with 4+ years in a management role, ideally at a youth development or educational organization that serves low resourced communities. CHANGE MANAGEMENT: Engages with change by seeking to understand its effects upon key stakeholders and own role. Guides others through change by providing direction to encourage successful performance. Supports others’ experience of change through open communication and information sharing. STRATEGIC ACUMEN: Big-picture thinker with the ability to anticipate needs, recognize unexplored opportunities, and utilize data to inform decision making. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT: Experience in coaching and guiding team members to achieve short, mid and long-term outcomes. Ability to prioritize, delegate, and hold space for staff. DATA SKILLS: Proven experience analyzing complex qualitative or quantitative data; ability to guide others to do so. Experience in an environment with strong focus on performance metrics and data-driven decision making. DEPTH MENTORING: Understands and applies the four lenses of Depth Mentoring: Social and Emotional Learning Skills, Adolescent Development & Identity Formation, Critical Consciousness, Trauma Sensitivity. CULTURAL COMPETENCE: Cultural sensitivity and humility in working with diverse and low-resourced populations, with an awareness of institutionalized racism and classism facing low- resourced communities. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of NYC area school districts and educational landscape is a plus. LOCATION AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Work hours are Mon-Fri 10am-6pm with occasional weekend and evening special events. This is a hybrid role with the expectation of working in office 2 days a week within our NYC offices and working remotely up to 3 days a week, depending on the program needs. Summer Search requires all its staff be vaccinated against COVID-19. Employees who are unable to be vaccinated due to a medical reason or sincerely held religious objection may be able to qualify for an exemption, consistent with state and federal law.
