Position Description

We are seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to join our team as the Campuswide New Advisor Training Coordinator. The Campuswide Advisor Training & Development Program equips academic advisors with the skills, competencies, and resources they need to support students as they design exceptional educational plans and guide students to timely graduation. We are a creative and collaborative team looking to hire an individual passionate about developing innovative learning experiences. This role will collaborate with both college and campus partners to deliver high-quality, comprehensive training to new academic advisors. A successful candidate for this position will be dedicated to developing high-quality, engaging course design, creatively presenting information in a universal and accessible way, and leveraging digital tools to excel in dynamic educational environments. Additionally, they will be deeply invested in ensuring a positive and welcoming onboarding experience for new advisors. This individual will serve as the point-of-contact for new advisors at the university, coordinating the delivery of synchronous and asynchronous training for advisors across campus. These trainings will provide the foundation of the required onboarding process for all academic advisors, ensuring every advisor and unit are able to operationalize a proactive advising approach for all students at the U. This role requires close collaboration with staff in the colleges, departments, and campuswide partners, particularly those working with student systems and technology. In addition to programming and coordination, this individual will be responsible for advising a small caseload of students. Duties

· Organize and facilitate training sessions and workshops for new academic advisors, both in-person and online, ensuring smooth content delivery while actively promoting engagement and participation

· Work with campus partners to develop high quality advisor education resources which may include foundational onboarding supports

· Coordinate process for submission of new advisor security forms in collaboration with the Office of the Registrar

· Manage campuswide advisor training calendar to ensure timely scheduling and coordination of all training sessions

· Develop asynchronous training modules and storyboards, utilizing tools such as Canvas and Articulate

· Maintain and revise training content within Canvas and Bridge LMS, ensuring accurate tracking of advisor training completion

· Integrate training for advising standards set by the Academic Advising Standards Council into the mandatory new advisor training program

· Conduct research of current training formats, concepts, and techniques for implementation for new advisor training

· Collaborate with the Campuswide Advisor Training & Development Manager to assess new advisor training effectiveness and makes modifications as needed

· Advise undergraduate students from various backgrounds in areas including academic standards, course registration and scheduling, policies and procedures, and prospective/newly admitted student advising.

· Participate in related professional development activities

· Other duties as assigned which may include advising special populations, class presentations, assessment, internal and external committees

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

· 4 years of advising experience defined as higher education and college-preparation positions that are student-facing and incorporate a developmental approach “where one informs, suggests, counsels, coaches, mentors, teaches” Kuhn, T. (2008).

· Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

· Demonstrated proficiency in Canvas or another LMS

· Experience in applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles to create accessible training programs
