NACADA Health and Safety Guidance for 2023 In-person Events

NACADA’s top priority is the health and safety of our event participants, and our goal is to hold a safe event while recognizing it is not possible to remove all risks, including those concerning COVID-19, monkeypox, and other illnesses that may present a global impact .

The rapidly changing conditions created by COVID-19 and its variants necessitate that in-person event hosts like NACADA constantly evaluate and update health and safety requirements. Health and safety measures for each event are established in accordance with CDC and public health recommendations and federal, state, and local regulations in effect at the time of the event, as well as what NACADA deems necessary to manage the risk for its event participants. NACADA reserves the right to modify these policies and procedures at any time given the rapidly changing nature of any current and ongoing public health emergencies. The Association cannot be held liable for COVID-19, monkeypox, or other illnesses arising out of event attendance. Attendees are expected to comply with relevant requirements as communicated by NACADA.

Effective Nov. 1, 2022 with registrations for 2023 NACADA events, all event participants, including but not limited to attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, NACADA staff, and others, will be required to provide or agree to the following:

This departs from NACADA’s previous requirement of proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test prior to admittance. Attendees and event participants as noted above will be expected to take common actions to reduce the risk of illness transmissions and to behave responsibly, including leaving the event area, in case of exposure to an illness or experiencing symptoms. In such case, participants should seek appropriate medical attention. Individuals should not attend if they are ill, experiencing fever or other symptoms, or have recently been in close contact with someone who has tested positive or have been diagnosed with an illness.

In keeping with the Association’s duty of care as event host, NACADA strongly encourages all participants who can receive vaccines and boosters to do so when possible. Wearing a mask is a personal choice. We ask that attendees make their choices responsibly and be respectful of other attendees’ health choices.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we navigate this changing environment.
