Position Description

The Advisor Training Manager will design the training curriculum and provide support to academic advisors, faculty advisors, and support advisors across campus. The Manager will also create Canvas-based courses and credentialing programs for the WSU advising community to engage in specific training opportunities throughout an advisor’s career cycle. This position is responsible for the design, development, delivery, implementation, assessment, and maintenance of all training programs/resources that include but are not limited to, the comprehensive knowledge of the job responsibilities and practices that contribute to improving student success through academic advising.

Walking and standing only occasionally if ever. Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading. The conditions the worker will be subject to in this position: None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work). Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years professional, faculty, or student support related academic advisement experience. May include academic advising and counseling for K-12, community organizations, postsecondary institutions, or similar work.
  • Experience teaching or training

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with instructional design
  • Experience with student success programming
  • Experience creating, developing, and assessing training and/or student support activities
  • Experience advising in secondary or higher education
