Region 2 Awards & Scholarships

NACADA Region 2 is proud to support student success by providing opportunities for recognition and professional development opportunities for academic advisors and administrators. Applications are due through the online submission portal. Select the desired award/scholarship for more detailed information about each award/scholarship. Select the “Online Submission Portal” link on the right to begin your nomination/application.

Submission Instructions

  1. Enter a simple password.
  2. Select your region.
  3. Select the award or scholarship from the drop down box.
  4. RECORD and save your Award/Scholarship Nomination Number and your password.
    *This step is extremely important so that you may leave the portal and return as needed as long as you have this information and have not hit the SUBMIT button.
  5. Upload all documents in pdf form.

NACADA Region Awards/Scholarships Information:

General Info

These one-time awards/scholarships are non-transferrable to another person or activity/event. Individuals may nominate themselves. A person may not apply/be nominated for more than one Excellence in Advising Award category per year. Additionally, a person may not apply/be nominated for both an Excellence in Advising Award and a Service to the Region Award and/or a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advising Champion Award the same year. Please consult the detailed description of each award for additional information and eligibility requirements.

Awards Submission Deadline

Nominations/applications are due through the submission portal at 11:59 p.m. central on the dates listed.

Certificates of Merit

While one award will be awarded, regions may award a Certificate of Merit to one or more nominees/applicants based on evaluation scores. Certificate of Merit winners receive an electronic certificate from the region and recognition at the Region Conference. Certificate of Merit winners do not receive event registration or travel reimbursement funds.

 

Expectations of Award/Scholarship winner

It is ideal if the nominee/applicant has the support of their office/department/college/institution in attending the Region Conference as the recipient will be recognized and presented their award during the Region Conference Awards and Scholarships Ceremony. Recipients may be asked by the region to provide a written testimonial of their conference/event experience including ways in which their career and/or education benefitted from receiving the NACADA Award/Scholarship.

Award Recommendation Form

Interested in nominating someone for an award/scholarship but missing information such as the nominee’s updated resume/C.V. or are limited on time? Now you can recommend a Region 2 colleague for a self-nomination! Submit a Recommendation Form, and the Awards Chair will contact them on your behalf, letting them know they have been recommended for a specific award/scholarship to encourage them to submit a self-nomination with their updated materials.

Please note:

  • Any member in Region 2 can submit this recommendation form for as many other members in Region 2 as they’d like. However, you can only submit one recommendation per person and for only one award/scholarship, so select the award/scholarship that you feel is the best fit.
  • You can submit a recommendation form for the same award/scholarship for different people.
  • Reminder: All awards and scholarships can be a self-nomination (although they do not have to be), whereas all scholarships MUST be a self-nomination.
  • Be sure to check the qualifications of each award/scholarship before submitting a recommendation to ensure the recommended person qualifies.

As a recommender, we also hope that you will be willing to provide a quote, sentence, or paragraph towards a letter of support (if not already providing a whole letter of support) for the individuals you recommend.
