Position Description

Advise and provide guidance & support to Patrick Leahy Honors College students; perform advising and enrollment management functions that contribute to student success, satisfaction, and retention in the Patrick Leahy Honors College. Implement a holistic advising program, which is curricular and co-curricular in scope and designed to promote student learning and development. Maintain current knowledge of Patrick Leahy Honors College and university policies and procedures, academic programs, and other programs and services. Develop advising resources and materials, and function as a liaison with college and university faculty & staff. Advocate for students’ best interests. Maintain records of student interactions in electronic systems. Make referrals to on-campus resources and evaluate outcomes. Participate in recruiting and retention activities including Admitted Student Visit Days and Patrick Leahy Honors College activities for UVM Orientation.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in higher education, counseling, student affairs, or related field.
  • Experience working in academic advising, preferably in a college or university setting.
  • Knowledge of higher education policies, academic requirements, and student development theories.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse student populations.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for high-achieving students.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and student needs.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with learning management systems and advising software is preferred (e.g. Banner, Navigate, Suitable).
