Position Description
The Assistant Director for Student Success, reporting to the Associate Provost for Advising and Student Success, is part of a dynamic team committed to holistic student success. The Assistant Director provides guidance to students in decoding the college experience and navigating the resources available to help them identify, confirm, and pursue their authentic interests and maximize access to resources and opportunities within and beyond Dickinson. Duties
Essential Functions:
- Lead expansion and wider adoption of campus-wide student support technology platform, Navigate (EAB). Collaborate with cross-campus partners (including Student Life, Enrollment Management, and Information Technology Services) to improve communication with students, integrate behavioral science and analytics into college student-centered practice and policy, and support students, faculty, and staff in using Navigate and the various features and tools. Develop and deliver training programs for faculty and staff on using Navigate effectively. Collaborate with departments to ensure effective communication, understanding of analytics capabilities, coordination of services related to Navigate, and effective utilization.
- Conduct data analysis projects centered on access and student success, developing data-informed programs and interventions. For example, Early Intervention and Early Excellence programming. Solicit student feedback from faculty for both early alert (students who may be at risk of academic or personal struggles) and early excellence (students demonstrating academic excellence in the many forms that can take). Develop and implement a communication plan for early alert students, connecting them with academic support resources and providing additional guidance and mentorship, and for high-achieving students, connecting them to programs and initiatives that will continue to support and encourage their success, such as honors programs. Coordinate programming/celebrations for students identified as high-achieving scholars (scholarship recipients, honor society inductees, Dean’s List, etc.)
- Provide short term support for students experiencing acute and ongoing academic, wellness and personal challenges
- Select, train, supervise, and evaluate Peer Advisors
- Design, manage, and assess the Peer Tutoring program in collaboration with appropriate campus partners. Train peer tutors in best practices and provide professional development support
