Position Description

The Director of Advising, Success, and Accessibility Services is responsible for training, programming, and supervision of the Academic Advising and Academic Success Center staff.

Duties

  • Oversee Academic Success Center department and programming.
  • Register or supervise the registration of all incoming students each semester.
  • Train and update advisors on policies, catalog changes and general advising procedures.
  • Create professional development for new and current advisors.
  • Assign faculty advisors to students based upon desired major.
  • Maintain advisors and advisees in university database.
  • Complete annual assessment of academic advising.
  • Help students create degree completion plans.
  • Refer students to appropriate university units, learning resources, and support services.
  • Serve on student support and retention committees.
  • Support the Admissions office through representation and various events.
  • Maintain positive relationships between faculty advisors.
  • Act as a liaison between faculty and academic support office, such as Registrar.
  • Assist students with the identification of their educational and career goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • A master’s degree is required.
  • At least two years’ Academic Advising and Success experience required.
  • Five years of full-time work experience in a university setting.
  • Experience supervising other employees.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication and technology skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse constituents and provide high-quality support to faculty and students.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adjust quickly and adapt to changes.
  • Capacity to quickly learn policies, procedures, and curriculum requirements.
  • Ability to abide by ethical standards and guidelines for academic advising.

Sensitivity to the need of students from diverse backgrounds.
