Position Summary: The Department of Academic Advising and Retention Services within the Division of Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) invites applications for the full-time position of Academic Advisor based on the Klamath Falls, OR campus of Oregon Tech. The Academic Advisor works within the Academic Advising and Retention Center to provide first-year academic advising to Klamath Falls campus students to ensure student success. Departmental Information Who We Serve The Office of Academic Advising and Retention serves all current Oregon Tech students in different capacities as they progress through their degrees at Oregon Tech. Secondary Academic advisors are assigned to most students. Students can check who their secondary Academic Advisor is when they check their registration information on Web for Student. TOP students, have a secondary advisor assigned from that department. How Secondary Academic Advising Works At Oregon Tech, students have both a Faculty Advisor in each program and a secondary Academic Advisor within the Office of Academic Advising & Retention. The Faculty Advisor is there to talk to students about their field of study, course content, and give final approval on the courses they plan to take each term. Secondary Academic Advisors are in place to help students connect with their Faculty Advisor, provide general advising, and to facilitate campus resources effectively. Advisors serve as a best contact for understanding school policies and procedures, managing logistical issues, as well as answering general questions about how to navigate the university. Duties
The Advisor will work with Klamath Falls faculty and staff, providing operational responsibilities focused on academic advising and retention and ensuring students have educational guidance and assistance throughout their first-year at Oregon Tech.
