Position Description
Baylor University is seeking an Academic Advisor to serve as the primary academic advisor to 150 undergraduate students with academic majors in the School of Music. This position reports to the Undergraduate Program Manager. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Duties
What You Will Do
• Interprets student needs, provides individualized service and assistance while maintaining confidentiality, serves as referral agent to other university services; develops and contributes to student success programs within the School of Music
• Support students in understanding and meeting their degree requirements, academic policies, university procedures, and the university resources available to make informed decisions regarding their degree program
• Advises students concerning their academic plans, progress, and academic and career goals in order to assist students in making personal education decisions and meeting graduation requirements
• Assist students in developing educational plans, selecting courses and evaluating academic progress
• Provide information on University resources available to students
• Assist new students about learning about majors and programs offered
• Assist with preparation and updating advising materials, degree plans and websites
• Maintain relationships with University constituents
• Assist in planning and developing advising support services
• Ensure a high level of confidentiality
• Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
• Ability to comply with University policies
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance
