Position Description
The TRIO SSS Coordinator provides comprehensive services and activities that support the development of individual academic, interpersonal, financial, and career skills for a caseload of approximately 100 participants who are first-generation, low-income, or have a documented disability. The Coordinator offers a broad array of individual and group support services, including academic advising, academic counseling, career and financial aid consultations, classroom instruction, goal setting, workshops, referrals, and other services to support participants' academic performance, retention, and graduation rates.
Duties
- Provide academic, career, financial, and personal support services to a caseload of approximately 100 students.
- Assess individual needs, track students' academic progress, and make appropriate referrals and interventions.
- Maintain confidential contact records and contribute to the overall program record-keeping system.
- Keep updated on advising policy, trends, and any information needed to perform advising tasks effectively and accurately.
- Utilize myNKU, Navigate, PROSAM, departmental database, and other resources to track and advise students for academic success.
- Collaborate with college staff, faculty, and administrators on behalf of program participants.
- Plan and coordinate SSS Service Learning, Social, and Cultural activities
- Supervise SSS Academic Liaison and SSS Career Liaison Student Workers
- Assume related duties and responsibilities as necessary

Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education, Social Work, Counseling, or other related degree and two years of direct student service.
- Experience in academic advising, financial literacy, and career coaching is desirable.
- We seek a candidate with excellent oral and written communication skills, a demonstrated understanding of the developmental and academic needs of college-age students, and a creative approach to student service.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and social media platforms is required.
- Experience working with low-income, first-generation, or students with disabilities is also required.
- Infrequent evening and overnight travel required for student cultural events and professional training.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference is given to individuals with backgrounds similar to low-income and first-generation college students.
