Position Description

Advise students holistically to support their personal, educational, and professional development and make good judgments based on individual circumstances while maintaining equity, objectivity, and consistency. Maintain a student case load to advise on academic-advising matters, including course selection, degree plans, transfer credits, course registration including overloads and underloads, and actively respond to referrals for students of concern. Create individualized communication to apprise students of semester mileposts (midterm grades, pre-registration, etc.) and end of semester status, relating to Dean's List, probation and dismissal, after review of grades. Participate in campus-wide retention initiatives with registration and recruit-back, admission's open houses, orientations, and other recruitment efforts. This includes evening and weekend work Teach 1 APEX course per semester working collaboratively with Director of AIC's Plan for Excellence (APEX). Create responsive programming by addressing unique populations such as transfer students, first generation, and students on academic warning or probation within your caseload. Collaborate regularly with faculty and division chairs, admissions, student affairs and residence life. Be familiar with policies and procedures that affect advisees in the offices of the Registrar, Financial Aid, and Student Accounts. Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in a relevant field. Experience in student affairs, student services, counseling or professional academic advising or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Experience in higher education academic advisement.
